New Autos: More Safety

(NAPSI)-Auto manufacturers are making more advanced safety technologies available to consumers than ever, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2005 "Buying A Safer Car" brochure shows.

For example, 75 percent of 2005 models are available with head protection side air bags, up nearly 50 percent from 2004.

More than 70 percent of 2005 models are available with chest side air bags, up 11 percent from 2004 and up a whopping 145 percent from 2003.

More than 50 percent of new models are available with Electronic Stability Control, up 11 percent from 2004 and up a stunning 629 percent over 2003.

More than 75 percent of 2005 models have innovative seat belt reminder systems as standard equipment. Implementation of this technology began with the 2004 model year.
