The Citroen C-Métisse – It’s A Diesel Hybrid!

Looking at the C-Métisse you see a car that demands respect and gets it. Its lines are impressive and this concept car is very powerful and stylish. The looks reveal its latent power and it reminds you of the coiled power of a stationary big cat waiting to leap.

This 4-door Citroen coupe car has gull-wing doors and is 4.74 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1.24 meters high. It can speed up to 155 mph and gives you 45 mpg. Its elegance was a big draw at the 2006 Paris Motor Show and the Citroen C-Métisse makes a bold statement that green can be powerful as well.

The Citroen C-Métisse looks so sensuous. It’s sleek, muscled curves flow well right through the outline of the vehicle, from its long bonnet to the rear wheel arches. There is hardly any rear overhang and these aerodynamic looks are translated into performance and what you get in the interiors.

The radiator grill has a double chevron badge and the headlights light up with a host of LEDs that keep pace with the speed of the car as well as the angle of the steering. So when you are driving on long and winding roads, you can be assured of the best lighting possible. The wheels are large, made of alloy and look sporty.

The C-Métisse is low-slung but the way the doors open make it comfortable to get in and out. The front doors open gull-style while the ones at the back spin open so it’s easy to enter and exit.

The interior of the Citroen looks like an aircraft cockpit, with a lot of room and very elegant aluminum and leather trims. Each passenger has his own individual seat as well as individual air-conditioning controls and lighting.

The Citroen C-Métisse a lighter vehicle with its carbon fiber body, just 3086 lbs, and this makes for better road control and fuel economy. It is also very good where emissions go – just 174g of CO2 per km.

Just 6.2 seconds for 0 to 60 acceleration, it has an HDi V6 diesel engine (20bhp, 295 lb-ft) together with a Diesel Particulate Filter System. There are two electric motors on the rear wheels and this means a huge additional torque of 400Nm. The vehicle is an all-wheel drive with brakes that are ABS, vented disc/disc.

The diesel hybrid drivetrain has a high voltage battery pack for the electric motors. The batteries can be found at the center of the vehicle and get automatically charged during deceleration.

The braking control unit together with the drivetrain manages the energy configuration which is energy recovery, recharging of the batteries and the smooth transition from the 2-wheel drive to the 4-wheel drive.

What is great for driving is the ‘boost’ function which provides the necessary torque when you accelerate. This makes the performance of the vehicle go up without increasing the fuel consumption.
