In an age of growing concerns over the environment and gas prices, it is a wise decision to do some homework to find the best vehicles made in terms of fuel efficiency. Any one driving around this past summer is also aware that the high gas prices are damaging to not only the individual’s pocket book, but to the nation’s financial stability as a whole.
If people can’t afford to drive their cars, then they can’t get to the many businesses that, obviously, rely on consumers visiting their establishments. That isn’t good news for any of us. With that situation in mind, it is easy to see where some common sense and responsibility when purchasing a vehicle is a good idea.
Based on the vehicles that came out in 2006, let’s take a look at the ten most gas effective according to manufacturers. The good people at Honda did a bang up job this year with their line of cars. The Insight, aside from being an excellent family car, ranked a mile per gallon of 66 on the highway.
The Honda Civic did well on gas mileage with 51 mpg as ranked in highway driving. Rounding out the top ten list is the Honda Fit. This relative newcomer has a gas mileage ranking of 38 mpg. Like all vehicle makers, Honda is trying to do their part to better the environment and fuel usage situation.
Next up on the list are the contributions from Toyota. The car manufacturer has long been known as producing stellar products and in terms of gas mileage; the 2006 line raised the bar.
The Toyota Prius topped ranking charts with a 51 mpg ranking, making it comparable to the Honda Civic in this category. The Corolla, which is commonly considered a good, solid car, ranked 41 mpg.
Also from Toyota, the Yaris performed well in consumer and fuel effective tests. It ranks a respectable mpg of 40.
The Camry Hybrid scored well on fuel efficiency as well. As hybrids are relatively new on the automotive scene, the Camry Hybrid boasts a mile per gallon average of 38. As usual, Toyota shows their design power with this fuel effective line.
The auto consumer has to be loving the fine people at Volkswagen as well. Three of the top ten fuel effective cars belong to them.
The Volkswagen Golf gets 44 mpg in highway driving tests. Besides being fun to look at and the drive the new Beetles also get 44 mpg. They also have a reputation of running and performing well for years on end.
Volkswagen gets high marks for the Jetta too. This driver friendly model has a mpg of 41. Any one of these models would be a good choice in terms of fuel efficiency.
When considering a more gas efficient vehicle, these cars and their makers are going the extra mile to make it worth the consumer’s while to make a change. A lot of factors depend on individual’s taking the time to make the best choices for the economy, the environment, and their wallets.
