You don’t need to pay professionals to detail your car. It’s simple enough to do it in your own driveway. The job will be done exactly as you want and you’ll save a few bucks too!
There are a few supplies you will need before you begin detailing your car. These include:
A vacuum cleaner: Its better if it’s a vacuum suitable for wet and dry conditions as well as has many attachments that can be used for different spaces.
A variety of rags is important – terry cloth and fine cotton towels are great for detailing.
A number of brushes in various sizes – toothbrushes and paint brushes work great.
Cotton swabs
Spray bottles
Canned air
Upholstery cleaner
Carpet stain cleaner
All-purpose cleaner
Surface protectant
The choice of where to start on detailing the inside of your car is up to you. But here are a few tips that will give you an idea of what needs to be done.
Vacuum the entire floor thoroughly and then use the solution to scrub out any stains. Try to use as little water as possible to prevent mould from forming. Take the mats outside and do the same.
Vacuum seats and remove stains just as you did for the carpet using the appropriate cleaner. Leave the doors open to allow the carpets and the seats to dry entirely.
Open the car door and wipe the metal and plastic parts with a soapy solution. Dry them thoroughly with a cloth and use a cotton swab to remove any tough stains.
Clean the inside of the car door with a soapy solution. Make sure you get all the cracks and crevices that are prone to collect dirt.
Wash the inside of your windows with a soapy solution. Dry thoroughly and then clean windows again with a glass cleaner to really make them shine.
Clean the steering column with the same soapy solution. Make sure to dry thoroughly and finish with a surface protectant.
To clean the dashboard, put the cleaning solution on a cloth and wipe it until the dirt comes off. Using your small cleaning tools, wipe at the knobs and buttons to remove dirt.
Don’t forget the centre console. Again wipe with a cloth soaked in solution and then use tools to get in the seams and small places.
