Limited Edition Beetle Has Drivers Seeing White

(NewsUSA) - Fans of Volkswagen's New Beetle are seeing white, and a whole lot of style to boot.

Volkswagen has released a limited edition Triple White New Beetle convertible, a model that's truly exclusive, with only 3,000 units being produced.

Officials at Volkswagen say that the model takes its color palette from the original Super Beetle convertible of the late 1970s. But this modern-day rendition is hardly dated when it comes to aesthetics.

The car features 17-inch alloy wheels, a unique "Campanella" white exterior, a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and white leatherette seats. The New Beetle convertible icon is ingrained in the front seat headrests, another distinctive attribute of the model's design.

With the flick of a switch, the semi-automatic convertible roof retracts and folds neatly above the trunk. A white roof boot is included as well, to ensure that the car maintains its consistency of style even when drivers are cruising with the wind in their hair and the sun on their shoulders.

But for all its exterior and interior trimmings, auto enthusiasts will be pleased to learn that Volkswagen didn't skimp on engine or performance qualities.

Its 20-valve, 2.5-liter engine features a cylinder head design modeled after that of the Lamborghini Gallardo's V10 engine. It produces 150 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 124 miles per hour, according to the manufacturer.

Automatic anti-slip regulation prevents active wheels from skidding while another system sends power to wheels that can grip the road, making this car as safe as it is stylish.

The Triple White New Beetle convertible is part of a lineup of special edition models that Volkswagen introduced for 2007. Others include the Wolfsburg Edition Jetta, Fahrenheit GTI and Fahrenheit GLI, each with elements and design cues exclusive to their edition.

With the standard automatic transmission, the Triple White New Beetle convertible starts at $25,990. For more information, visit www.vw.com.
