The Scion's 2008 tC: Enhanced With Modern Styling and Connectivity for Apple IPod

The Scion Company has enhanced its fore running tC sports model with stylish structural design, latest electronic equipment and safety features scheduled for release in 2008. The company announced this information in February this year.

The most eminent feature of the 2008 tC is a looming parallel blend grille and front headlights. The front grille comprises of an additional higher mesh grille, a standard lower lattice grille and low beam headlights. The design of the rear tail lights has also been modified to complement the front headlights.

The tC dashboard now sports a new deep orange multifunction meter, restructured seat material and silver coated door handles. The tC is available in two new colors namely Wave Line Pearl and Crimson Mica.


The sound system has been augmented with a subwoofer from Pioneer, a leading car stereo manufacturer. The tC's audio system is the standard Pioneer 160-watt AM/FM/CD with an additional one line LCD display for the latest iPod control. The one line LCD shows the album information from the IPod. Apple IPod can be connected to the car stereo system and give a thrilling listening experience.

The IPod also gets continuously charged from the car's power system. The IPod controls are available on the LCD head unit and also on the steering wheel. The tC also has facility for addition of external audio amplifiers to boost power to the front and rear speakers, and subwoofers. The LCD skins and themes are customizable with a large variety of options freely downloadable from the Pioneer Company's website.

The safety features of the 2008 tC includes the standard front dual stage airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags and a driver's knee airbag. It also has a tire air pressure monitoring system with alarm capability, three-point seatbelts in all five seating positions and a first aid kit. The tC also has the standard anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD).

The 2008 tC is has a 2.4-liter double overhead-cam four cylinder engine under its hood with the latest Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) technology. The engine generates 161 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 162-lb.ft. at around 4,000 rpm. The tC is Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) certified by CARB. The tC has two options for the transmission system: one a standard five-speed manual transmission: and two an electronic four-speed fully automatic transmission.

Like the other Scion models, the tC comes with free maintenance services for the first 5,000 mile and 10,000 mile intervals and the periodic servicing is performed by any authorized Scion or Toyota dealership available throughout the country.

The standard tC model is offered in Wave Line Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic, Flint Mica, Super White, Black Sand Pearl, Sizzling Crimson Mica, and Nautical Blue Metallic. A 2008 tC has bucket seats in the front which are highly comfortable. The front seats also feature side height and thigh support adjustments customizable by the users according to their needs. The front seats can be easily moved by a lever to provide a wide step-in space for entry to the rear seats.

The tC comes with a 36-month/36,000 mile limited warranty that applies to all components other than normal wear and break down maintenance. An optional 60-month warranty is available for the gear train for 60,000 miles and corrosion warranty for the entire car with no limitation.
