There are many people and car enthusiasts wondering what will come next for the Camaro in 2009. With so many modifications and improvements made to the vehicle within the past few years, who knows where it could go from here? Indeed, the Camaro has been a sports coupe favorite ever since it debuted more than twenty years ago.
This time, however, GM says that it would like to stay as close to the prototype and show car as possible because of the terrific improvements and ideas that they have to offer for the hot sports coupe.
Basically the 2009 and 2010 Camaro will be a major upgrade for the versions already out.
The GM Manufacturer wants the Camaro to come standard with the V-8 engine, but they may actually take it down to the V-6 for the base model just for insurance purposes, making it easier to insure. Nevertheless, the 2009 Camaro will be a popular hot rod for everyone that already loves the Camaro and will be new to those who have never experienced its power.
As far as the engine in the 2009 model for the Camaro, GM Plans to have the V-8, 6.0 liter LS2 engine matched with the six-speed manual transmission. They will also be bringing out the Active Fuel Management for the engine, which is a huge benefit for anyone driving the Camaro.
What the Active Fuel Management does is enable the automobile to completely shut down four of the cylinders when they're not needed for speed, driving, or engine load.
The new Camaro will also offer about 450 horsepower, which is another plus for Camaro and speed lovers. Fuel efficiency is also something that GM is working on and as for right now it looks as if the Camaro could reach more than 30 miles per gallon on the highway and slightly less while driving in town. Of course, the Active Fuel Management feature will help out quite a bit with the fuel economy.
The Camaro will stay true to the original Camaro concept, however. The base model will be produced with a sleek look on the outside and inside of the car, offering everything that drivers love. As opposed to the small front base of the car, though, it looks as if the front grille and the entire front end will be quite a bit larger than previous models.
The 2009 Camaro will definitely not be without great features inside the car, either. The seats will be comfortable and it appears that there will be more interior room than other Camaros. However, the 2-door sports coupe will be just that, delivering plenty of speed on and off the highway.
Current Camaro drivers and car experts actually predict that the 2009 and 2010 models of the Camaro will be a big hit for GM. It'll come as no surprise if it is, though, considering the improvements that they are about to make, while still holding true to the original model and sleek design and performance of the Camaro.
