One of the most coveted cars today is the Fisker Tramonto. Designed, by Henrik Fisker, former designer of the Aston Martin cars, the Fisker Toronto is a sleek and elegant supercar that can run for 202 miles per hour at most. Tramonto means sunset in Italian.
It can accelerate from 0 mph to 60 mph in over 3.6 seconds, making it one of the fastest cars in the world. It weighs 4205 lbs making it a considerably light car that’s indeed built for speed.
The Tramonto’s Secret
Its base architecture is a Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG. There is actually a very interesting story surrounding its base. You see, it takes quite a while for a car to get certified and Henrik Fisker, despite being the designer of some of the most popular lines of cars, wanted to design a car that was all his own.
But in a sudden flash of genius, he found a way to escape from the excruciating wait.
Working with his partner, Bernhard Koehler, he founded a company that was able to launch two new automobiles after only nine months. Now, you may think it’s impossible to get a car certified at such a short time and you would be right, because it is impossible. But Fisker and Koehler found a way that was both practical and quite witty. Instead of calling themselves automobile manufacturers, they called themselves body builders.
What made them different was that they gave a complete makeover to the base of an already certified car, completely removing all of its outer skin and just leaving the parts which needed to be certified like the bumper structures, the door hinges, the hood latches, and the windshield wipers. Indeed, it was an ingenious way of working around the impossible system of legal issues and technical matters.
Customization
To put it simply, the Fisker Tramonto is just like a modified version of the Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG except its much much more than that. It’s one of the most customizable cars around. You can choose whether you want to keep some of the parts of the Mercedez or to upgrade them to the much better versions that Fisker was able to design.
The Fisker Tramonto can be transformed from a coupe to a roadster in a mere 16 seconds. You can choose to keep the top on for severe weather or if you want it retracted so that you can drive with the wind on your face.
