Toyota's concept car, the new FT-HS, will essentially be a hybrid sports car come to life. Many sports car enthusiasts will be excited about this car that Toyota debuted in Detroit, Michigan, earlier in 2007. Their new Toyota FT-HS will be a sports car that gives the environment a break. That alone should give sports car drivers something to be excited about.
Since Toyota hasn't come out with anything even close to a supercharged sports car since the Supra ended production in the late 1990's, this may be exactly what Toyota needs to market not only to younger drivers again, but also to those who care about the environment.
There are a couple features about the Toyota FT-HS concept automobile that make it environmentally friendly. First, the concept car that was shown in Michigan was white in color, which goes along with their theme to make the environment a cleaner place by introducing their hybrid cars to the market saturated by fuel-inefficiency and higher gas prices.
The Toyota FT-HS battery pack composed of lithium-ion batteries will also help Toyota be able to keep its message that the hybrid is one the better cars in the market, at least for the United States anyway.
One interesting feature about the concept car that Toyota announced in January 2007 was the hard top. Even though it looks as if it's not a convertible, the Toyota FT-HS will come with a hard top that will slide out and fold down into the rear-passenger seats. However, that will make it even more like a 2-seater sports coupe even though there will also be 2 seats in the back of the car also.
Looking like a decked-out sports car the outside of the car is not going to be lacking in appeal, either though. The V-looking shape of the car is also repeated throughout the inside, too, with even the shape of the engine taking on a sleek and sports-car look.
This Toyota concept car will definitely be an improvement from the Supra that was targeted toward the same drivers, but will be even meatier than before. The 3.5 liter V-6 engine will deliver more than enough power for sports car enthusiasts to travel zero to sixty seconds in just under four seconds. That should definitely be something that Toyota drivers will love to see.
What's more, the comfort and look of the interior should set anyone's eyes and ears who are dedicated to sports cars on fire. As Toyota has said, the interior of the car is all about the driver. The interior of the Toyota FT-HS will be very sporty-looking, and the seats will also be a comfortable fit for sports car drivers.
Debuting as a concept car from Toyota, there's no promise that this will eventually come to life, but with the sports car crowd practically begging Toyota to produce something other than the Supra of old, maybe Toyota will succeed in producing the Toyota FT-HS concept automobile.
