Have you ever owned a diesel engine vehicle, or do you own one now? If you have, then you know the pluses this engine gives you. You get better gas mileage, easy to maintain, more torque then a conventional gasoline vehicle.
Some drivers do not like the weaker powered engine, you know what I mean if you've ever had to make a full stop in a diesel, and then accelerate. Gasoline engines use spark plugs to ignite fuel, but the diesel engine use compression to create combustion. The piston cause compression of the fuel mix so strong it combusts. This means the diesel engine doesn't need spark plugs, or tune ups.
Diesel fuel has more density than gasoline, and that means better fuel economy. With diesel engines maintenance is less costly because the engines have less parts than a gasoline powered engine. And a diesel engine can run just about forever, so your car will most likely last much longer.
If its torque your looking for, to pull equipment, trailers or boats, then the diesel is your engine. The diesel may be slower, but it will tow whatever your heart desires up hills, over bridges, any where you want to go.
In trucks, diesel engines are the winner in terms of performance and mileage per gallon of fuel. The diesel engine in a truck will get far more miles than a gasoline engine will.
Thanks to innovations in diesel fuel, with the ultra low sulfur diesel, more improvements can be made because the ULSD will enable exhaust devices to be used, when they could not be used with the high sulfur diesel, so now the fuel will burn cleaner and the exhaust will be much less than ever before.
There are at least seven car manufacturers that make diesel engine cars already, and four more who plan to introduce new models soon. The car makers who produce diesel cars are: Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Jeep, Mercedes Benz, and Volkswagen. Joining them soon in diesel car production will be: BMW, Chrysler, Honda, and Nissan.
