Change the Spark Plugs, Save at the Pump

(NC)-Like every budding romance, a new engine starts with a strong spark. But, like many aging romances, vehicles lose their spark over time.

While couples are left up to their own measures to keep their spark alive, vehicle owners have it much easier to keep their cars or trucks running well: just change the plugs.

Simply paying attention to one of the engine's most critical components can add up to hundreds of dollars of savings at the gas pump. While manufacturer's recommended intervals have increased over the years, changing spark plugs is one of the easiest ways to make sure your vehicle's engine is still achieving the fuel economy it had when it left the factory.

According to AAA, changing worn or old spark plugs can improve fuel economy by as much as 30 percent. That could potentially translate into a savings of nearly $0.30/L at current gas price levels.1

"People think 'sparkplugs can't really make that much of a difference to my monthly fuel bills' and we love the look on their face when we show them otherwise," said Megan Currie, product manager for the Autolite brand. For those who like to maintain their own vehicles, we offer step-by-step online instructions on how to install their spark plugs and wire sets at www.autolite.com, as well as a complete range of plugs to help everyone keep their vehicle running at its best."

In addition to fuel savings, changing your spark plugs can also have a dramatic impact on vehicle performance. Autolite offers some of the most advanced spark plugs in the industry, utilizing the latest technology to ensure optimum ignition power. For example, the Autolite XP Xtreme Performance plugs feature iridium enhanced 0.6 mm fine wire design and center electrode technology which provides improved ignitability and a platinum enhanced side electrode. With tested and proven superior claims in durability over the life of the plug, Autolite's XP Extreme Performance plugs are worth the investment .
