The Seetron TP2

Tire pressure is something most drivers never really think about, but which can play a crucial role in safety and the economical operation of your vehicle.

Underinflated tires can be dangerous, especially in wet situations where they can contribute to hydroplaning, and also generate heat that could lead to a catastrophic blowout at highway speeds.

In addition to the safety aspect, underinflated tires create more rolling resistance for your vehicle, which in turn leads to increased fuel costs and wear on your tires.

It can be difficult to tell if your tires are at the proper inflation level, as modern radial tires always have a slight bulge where the rubber makes contact with the road.

Likewise, it is hard to know while you are driving that a tire has been punctured and is slowly losing air.

Winter environments can make checking tire pressure unpleasant and difficult, and it is often overlooked in favor of getting the car started and getting warm. Luckily, Seetron makes a device that allows you to monitor the pressure of each tire from inside your car.

How does it work? A small LCD screen displays a graphic of your car and the pressure of each tire at all 4 corners. The pressure readings are sent from individual sensors placed inside each tire. With no wires to route or get in the way, installation is clean and hassle free.

At a price of $325 dollars, however, the Seetron TP2 tire pressure monitoring system is not the most inexpensive solution – a portable tire pressure gauge can be bought at any automotive supply or hardware store for well under 5 dollars.

However, if you are a gadget junkie, or tow a trailer and need to know the tire pressure on your rig at any given moment for safety reasons, the Seetron TP2 makes a solid purchase.
