I was trying to install an rear view camera to the back of my car today and when I checked the voltage on the reverse lights the voltage seems to fluctuate a bunch between 0 and 8V. I'm pretty sure it should be around 12V and when I put the car in revers the reverse lights turn on and when it's in Park the reverse lights turn off. I thought it was just an issue with my probing so I hooked up the camera wires and gave it a try but when the camera was connected the light wouldn't turn on and the camera was off as well. I detached the camera and put the reverse light back to normal and it works again. Any help about why this happens would be great.

Is this an automatic trans or a manual? Completely different systems. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
