I have a 2014 Chevy Sonic that was in a minor accident, and I want to fix the cosmetic damage. Body shops want $1700 for repairs, so I figure I'll just try it myself, but I don't know the best ways to go about getting parts on the cheap. I think all i need is the front bumper cover and the black and silver pieces for the left side fog light, and i seem to find them cheap some places ie $52 for the bumper cover, but they charge something like $100 for shipping on these sites. I work in logistics and shipping myself, and ive never seen markups this high, is this common for auto parts? Is there any place i can get these parts cheaper? Should i try junkyards?

Also I could use any advice on how to do the work, ive look at some videos and doesnt seem too hard, but I would appreciate pointers.

That damage if far more than you think. There is extensive damage that needs to be repaired and aligned. The bumper alone is far beyond your capability. The prep and paint work alone will cost a couple hundred.
Everybody thinks that body repair is simple but it's far from it. Most of those parts outside of the bumper have to come from the dealer anyway.

Of course it is expensive to ship a bumper cover, simply because of the size.

Let the body shop do it right.

I've looked at the damage, the only thing more than what is apparently obvious is the actual bumper is slightly bent. When I say body shop, i mean some Puerto Ricans i know a few streets over. An actual body shop would probably charge me closer to 2 or 3 grand for this, and Im not going to pay that much, thats more than half the cars value. I plan on bending the bumper out as needed, but im gonna do it myself and i can spray paint just fine. Not like im fixing up an expensive car here, just trying to make it look slightly presentable.
