Car accident repair taking time - travelling overseas in meanwhile
Hello everybody, I got into a fender bender and reported to insurance company (at-fault) and the shop is saying it's going to take a minimum of 4 weeks to get it fixed. Issue is I am travelling oversees/home country in 2 weeks for an extended vacation (Tickets, time off from work etc. was planned months in advance). Is there a way Insurance company will allow me to postpone the repairs for once I come back from vacation ? Is there a provision like that ? What are my options ? What should I do Any help will be great. Thanks Nishant

You can have the repairs done whenever you want. Just tell them to keep the claim open. PS, I deleted your duplicate post. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thanks for your prompt response and sorry for duplicate post. I just drove somehow to the closest Geico in-network repair shop without an appointment (as there is a 7 day backlog/wait time) to get a verbal time-line from them and hence there was no Insurance adjuster present. Will this is be an issue as Insurance company as such hasn't inspected the car yet, so later on once I am back they might say I increased damage etc..? What should I do please suggest Thanks Nishant

Keep at it. Is this car legal to use right now? Find another shop if need be up to rent a car - cheap or too late you could have added that for coverage. IDK how any shop can peg times the work before you is done time for parts and paints to dry plus have the help at the ready when it's slow fix up wrecks or something just can't stand around, T

You should get the car inspected ASAP as they can claim additional damage after the fact. You have time on the actual repair but the report and claim have to be done right away.

It's twisted English but read you policy. Ins. is all about taking $ not handing it out. Look for PIP is personal injury - take that now read it now that doesn't close the case. IF you lose your vacation and up to a fight could probably claim that as damage to you and be laughed at then need help it all gets messy. Take pictures now, they will and fast. One fingerprint more damage this nightmare can start all over again. These rules vary place to place need to know that and soon or sarcastically, yesterday! Tom
