Chevy cavalier window issue Sign In

I have a Convertible (1999 chevy cavalier 2.4) The driver window does not go all the way up and when i try to roll the window down it sounds like it is trying to go down, and goes down very choppy to about 1/4 of the way then stops, Also my passenger window goes only down about an inch before stopping completely and does not go back up at all, i dont want my car getting rain in it what do i need to fix this issue?? Thanks!!

Sounds like you may have a couple of broken regulators.

Notes/thoughts on this car: Just one and a bit older not much. The doors are VERY heavy was noted. It just adds to the trauma of plain closing a door and all the guts inside. Windows/regulators are highly reliant on those regulators AND the felted rubber channels glass runs in.

This especially for convertibles. If used as intended (some folks never put the tops down????) you are working the windows a lot more than average and now an older car also. Plastics of regulators, felt of the rubber just gives up - all things, use, time, heat and cold.

I'm finding that you have one go bad and the rest aren't far behind on this stuff in doors just lots worse for convertibles. I don't know how to prevent it except to never use the cars in weather at all and just garage them out of weather almost all the time.

Tough nut - not just this model others too all four (one one) every function on every door broke already,

T
