Cost to repair damaged door Sign In

Hi there, I'm trying to pool other's thoughts since I'm clueless about cars. We have this 2015 ford fusion SE and unfortunately my mother hit a pole that was obstructed by snow and it did some damage to the passenger side door(s). We've taken it to a few body shops to get estimates and all have said this is going to require new doors and cost from $3500-4000 . I attached a couple of pics showing where the majority of the damage is - basically where the two doors meet is where the most extensive damage is. The bottom panel has some 'minor' dents and then there are scrapes but I'm mostly wondering about the dents at the door intersection. Do these quotes these seem reasonable? We have a neighbor that owned a dealership for 30 years and has worked with cars and said this could be done without requiring new doors and for much less $ than the quotes we got. Not sure who to believe... any insight would be appreciated.

The damage is in places where there is structure behind and there is no access to make any repairs.

It is what it is and there are no shortcuts except maybe used parts but that would increase the labor and paint materials. You have no idea the cost of quality paint and materials these days. Very costly.

I'd say call your insurance company because body repairs are not cheap.

Just a note: Your "dealer" neighbor who said could be done cheap is right. That's totally hacked bondo job I call "faking it" for real work some can pull that off to sell a car it doesn't last and then harder to fix properly if practical at all.
The prices you first got don't seem out of line at all to me. Unless this is just totally a trashed car to hack up legally it's as Hammer said an insurance claim if not covered for that figure it out with shop what choice you have? Just BTW where I am you probably could win the accidental damage was unseen obstacle if situation was normal otherwise and no penalty for using insurance. I tend to doubt that if snow covered area at all don't drive thru it of course you can't see what's inside?
