Hi,

I have a 2007 Camery that has some of the paint fading (http://autoforums.carjunky.com/photos/pic/720o4fzO/2038.jpg). Same issue in couple other places on the car. I got was quoted around $600 to fix the paint. Can't afford that.

I've been researching and plenty of videos and tutorials but the more I research the more I am getting confused. Some says just use a buffer with polishing compound, others say to sand it off and use touchup paint and then buff with wax.

Which way to go is the question. Any advice?

Not my trade you don't just magically fix your problem it will need repainting if fussy down to bare metal back up.

Restored many cars own and drive them myself the paint finish is last I don't do, don't have the space, super clean air, paint room temp controlled, humidity too so it's costly.

I could fix a door ding for $600 bucks in MA almost all cars/vehicles are clear coated or paint in layers so prices are nasty. $600 bucks isn't nasty at all so what do you expect?

Don't believe in the BS out there just do this or that or buy this or that is all fake for the suckers.

It's real talent and work + the place to do it. Gotta wake up to that $600 for real work (if so done) is a bargain,

Those are both terrible suggestions and will make the car look worse than it does now.

The clear coat is gone and there is only one way to fix it. Sand it, paint it and clear coat it.

You have no idea the cost of these materials. A gallon of Dupont clear coat costs over $500 to the shop.

Believe me, $600 is a decent price and there is no shortcut.

The skinny on this BS is shut off devices and realize REAL. Go do this sh*t yourself (I've done/tried) almost anything known some F-thing take real person skills GONE about now + lucky to find it anywhere.

With a grain of salt I still drive cars with vent windows - how stupid can stupid get in this world I'm ticked off that mankind is headed backwards in no time flat.

Skills cost, fakes are all around learn the difference,
