Hello all! Does anyone know what this thing hanging is? I was thinking the heat shield is loose?

If your camera is pointed toward the front of the car, that would be the plastic under cover. They commonly get torn when people drive up to curbing stops. The edge snags when they back away. If it's torn too badly to reattach, then you would have to get a new one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Hurry up so you don't lose that! I wouldn't call this Auto Body - doesn't matter happens all the time. Take a good look see if you can drill holes for rivets in a good spot or if all else and it's completely there except for just where spot welds let go use pure SS clamps, large ones add a medium (found where clothes dryer duct is sold at home centers or hardware) they go end to end and wrap all around it twice (front-rear) make it work as intended again just lost those spot welds. If you really want it to look better still wire it so you don't lose it and ask a muffler type shop if they can weld it bet you hear you need a whole unit? Your call on that ask for the cost too! T

OMG - I can't see plastic from a real heat shield put in many places on exhaust parts. That fix still stands for most of those, T

It's a plastic cover Tom. Nobody is welding anything.

The fix stands for coated heat shield(s) that so smartly lose rust resistance at spot welds, Tom
