Hyundai Elantra 2013 bolt help Sign In

I was attempting to remove the front bumper off my car. I took out the bolt that is beside the screw above the tire not realizing how difficult it would be to put back in. Does anybody know what in have to remove or do to get the metal clasps to line back up so I can put the bolt back in? I've never done any autobody work before. Thank you.

I moved this here from the A/C section as it seems body related, not A/C.

Can you post a pic of where you are stuck? There are countless fasteners, nuts, bolts clips and types of stuff in any car to know how to deal with.

More info on this for now just seems like I'll all a clip nut of some sort moved and you need to put that back to line up bolt?

Why are you taking off the bumper at all? If it's all busted for some reason you probably are not going to fix much on the web vs take up this trade drop everything and spend a few years or more in training, build up your own tool collection and still fight with how to approach what!

I think you're over your head now thinking this is for DIYing or explain better with pics what issue you're having,

Tom

I have a picture it's not letting me upload. I am removing the front bumper because the clips above the grill are not clipped in properly. I took out the bolt and the screw thst were holding the one side on. I do have a panel popper to take out the plugs but i figured I would tske it into the autobody shop before making things worse. It'd hard to explain but the bolt csnt go back in because the two holes won't line up and I can't force the metal together to make them. I'm guessing I'd have to maybe loosen the other side of the bumper by the bolt but I'm not sure.

OK, this is how hardware is done not about what or where so much.

If it was a threaded bolt the nut probably was a clip over plastic/metal with the threaded nut on other side. All this stuff moves, busts or is one time use buy new fasteners.

The barbed plastic things you pry out (tools for that cheap) and only might work again. Bring an old one to a parts store and be shocked dumb things cost a fortune are plastic crap.

I didn't make the rules this is "hardware" so a car can be assembled new in seconds who cares later crap.

Frustrating later for sure.

It's an education of it's own to know fasteners, what to call them and what size.

Tons of stuff busts wasn't meant to be undone and put back. If it involved damage like an accident or trauma you toss everything.

For you sometimes even chain store parts outlets stock a lot of this stuff could show you what it is and have new or if what I think you line clip nuts up with a screwdriver as a pilot then hold it there and put bolt back. Duct tape! When tight again remove that.

Each spot is going to be different one wrong move will wreck a day I think this just did for you!

There should be a screw at the tip of the bumper that goes straight up in the wheel well. In order to get that into the right position you need to pull the bumper cover out away from the fender and push in from the front before snapping the cover into the pinch clips in the fender. Once everything is in tight, the hole should line up.
