What makes these shops that you evaluated so far not appealing? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Shops not appealing or the car's looks now? OK - if paid out AND you have the car (surprised totaled they let you have it) then go get estimates on your own as a cash customer just to make it all legal and safe again and save on the pretty paint and finish work up front and well understood. Make sure this car is really fixable at all - could be already declared some kind of salvage and would add that hassle if possible at all to make it street legal again for the $$ you did get? Not common to me that it's "totaled" and they didn't take the car as it has some value for just metal and other parts if you still own it. Make sure before you do much not just the damage what the real deal is on the car now? T

Can you post a pic of the vehicle? Was this auto body repair shop licensed and insured? Your vehicle is going to show it as a total loss on your title. Your going to have fun getting that changed and having an insurance company insure it. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Images can be a pest here to post. You can try a site like Photobucket or Tinypics type hosting site and link to that as needed. Our posts back a few overlapped and yours posted first. Your insurance is funky to me. Here a total value loss (goes by value of car as it is vs what is was prior to an accident or loss) and if that exceeds so called "book" value they buy the car essentially and take it then sell off the wreck as it belongs to them! Anything to lower their loss out of pocket for THEM - screw the customer seems the rule. By all rights you should have received enough money to buy another whole car of the same type, age and miles minus any deductibles and just swap out - doesn't work so easy all the time unless it's brand new and another party's fault. Place by place rules on what they can sell you for insurance and get away with! T

Something like that is going to be hard to tell what exactly needs to be done to straighten it out until things are removed. There may be some structural damage. I have a feeling that to repair something like that is going to cost a lot more money than you got back from the insurance company. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Agree w DS - There's more than meets the eye there. Look carefully that hood+fender are not keeping a line back to windshield and around the headlight pushed back a bit (radiator support) now it would take a frame pull (straightening) for other like parts to even fit. That would total it. How much $ did you get vs average prices for the same car around you for sale? It really should be close to that. If you accepted payment already strong high bet you can't renegotiate an amount now. Try again with the body shops. They really should be able to give you an exact quote as a cash customer now. Popular car so parts should be available - prices will vary too on that. Whole other car and forget this one and cash in on it's current value or fix the work and running around is now on you plus any alternate transportation, taxes + DMV fees for another car like it. It's hard and always stinks with these things. Insurance clearly wanted to quickly wash their hands and be out of it by totaling it IMO and by taking payment they are, T

I just see any incentive for a shop to want to "Band-aid" this car. The only shop that would ever agree to this is the shop you probably wouldn't want working on your car. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
