Well, I'm sure we don't either. You either have to ask the guy that painted it of take your chances.

This is new in my book - who painted it and why are you about to really make it a problem?

No, you aren't going to just sand off clear and put just that back. Whatever reason it was touched at all this new and isn't or wasn't fixed to perfection when you saw it next probably seriously wasn't done properly now making this lots harder to make right again by professionals. There's barely a choice as most people don't have a dedicated painting booth to spray in, right temps and air clear of the smallest dust. It's hard enough but a hood will really look like crap if you try to fake it,

Yes, as long as you stop as soon as you rub through, you will be able to clear coat that panel again.

You really shouldn't be doing that much sanding anyway. Wet sand the high points off with 1500 and then use a buffer. If you aren't extremely experiences in using a buffer, then leave this job to a professional because that is where the damage can be done easily. Be VERY careful near any edges.

I am afraid to take back to the shop that painted it because I fear they will make it worse. It seems that when ever I take this car in for any repair or mod they fix the problem half ass and break two other things. Just my luck I guess. I will just do one panel at a time starting with the worse and see how it goes. Not totally new at this.
Thanks for your thoughts.

That's just a reflection of you and the way you choose repair shops. You get what you pay for most times.

Not true. I looked at 3 other shops before selecting. Read reviews and toured the facility. This body shop is probably one of the oldest and largest in so cal. "Jim and Jack's collision" Allstate paid $11,000.

Well, if you're always having a problem with workmanship quality and never get it satisfactorily done, something is wrong either with your choices in shops or your expectations of the final product.
