I have a 2006 civic auto 1600cc sedan , model fd4. Before summer, the boot door has been replaced with a brand new one (painted at a local shop). During (the very hot) summer , paint started chipping at the line where the rear lights are fitted. I talked to the body shop and they said to loosen a bit the bolts that hold the lights. I am guessing that due to summer heat the lights expanded and crashed the paint. Is this the case? Would loosening the bolts solve it really? How can I prevent chipping from I expanding? Any advice would be appreciated. Here's a picture at http://s48.photobucket.com/user/sand1ego/slideshow/Mobile%20Uploads

The light didn't cause that. It looks like it would be more of the prep to painting in that area wasn't done correctly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I can't make YOUR pics show in that format just get to Photobucket but doesn't matter. The replacement and painting of parts didn't work out right is about all it could be. The other issue on popular cars such as this is the parts are NOT always made by the car maker but aftermarket clones not so much for the trunk/boot/hatch lid but the "lights" or lenses if they also were replaced as more popular to need than the lid. I'd complain to the body shop and but you probably wont get anywhere. It's tough to own a car and have to know what to request and insist on. For me, rear parts such as a mentioned I would prefer excellent used as more are available than front body parts. With this car you just might even luck out and get metal parts the same color! That would be a double win, T

The job may need to be done over again to really fix it. If original shop isn't going to help you with this get a quote from another if any and all warranty of workmanship is over to fix it right. In the mean time for chips you can use touch up paint but it about never matches nor really stops a problem but can slow any rust or corrosion from missing paint, T
