2001 Toyota Camry Uneven Brake Pad Wear

Hi guys,
Need your help on this one. My girlfriend has a 2001 Toyota Camry 3.0, V6 with 230,000 and 4 wheel disk brakes. She's really bad about maintaining her car and she wore the front, left brake pad down to the metal and ruined her rotor. When I got under the car to change the pads I noticed the following. The front, left brake pads wore significantly more than the front, right did. To give you an estimate I would say that the front, left had 0% brake pad remaining and the front, right had 20% remaining. The rear pads, both right and left, had very little wear at all. They were at about 90% remaining. There was barely even any brake dust on the calipers. Even stranger, the rear pads were manufactured by Toyota. The front were manufactured by a different company. Is it possible that the rear pads were the same ones the car originally came with??? Do the front break pads generally wear down that much faster than the rear? What might be causing this uneven wear? I didn't bleed the brake lines but I plan on doing it in the next day or so. I did visually inspect the lines for leaks and didn't see any. As always, your expertise is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, alot more of your brake stoping power comes from the front(about 75% i beileve) then the rear so this makes the front wear out alot quicker.

To add - paul: When brakes are found not evenly worn take notice. Tons of miles on this thing so open to what has already been replaced the second time!
Uneven wear can be in the top few reasons - calipers and or not lubed enough/stuck parts, or just freezing up, brake hoses can also let pressure in and not return all or enough to freewheel again properly or at all sometimes. If rust is an issue some brake pads will shed the lining up to falling right off. Go quality especially with/if rust is an issue.
As Mr. Scotty said - the fronts of cars (some trucks can wear rears faster adjusting for loads) but never a certainty do most of the work.
Hey - IMO you should be rotating tires on a schedule and a great time to take a peek at brakes at the same time so you don't get caught with them at the end. Dismantle/remove calipers is much more telling if old w high miles - re-lube. Still just glancing isn't the whole story but helps give you a clue,
