2005 Pontiac Wave (Automatic)
160k kilometres
Hey, I have a 2005 1.6L hatchback Pontiac Wave with some break issues. The breaks are constantly seizing up and we have to bleed the breaks every couple of days in order to drive it. The vehicles breaks seize up and stick resulting in break pads getting worn out very fast, very strong vibrations and loud noise. The break pedal becomes very spongey. I was informed that the previous owner emptied all of the brake fluid and put in incorrect fluid. I took it to a garage and was told that the master cylinder has a seal leak and its sucking air into the brake line.

TLDR : Brakes stick, violent vibrations, loud noise (not from worn out pads). Mechanic said master cylinder is sucking air into the brake line. Previous owner possibly put in wrong brake fluid, possibly could've been the problem?

Anybody able to properly diagnose what's wrong with the vehicle?
Thanks!!

wrong fluid can be a real serious issue- the wrong type brake fluid (DOT 3 -DOT 4 synthetic) OR the wrong type of fluid ie oil PS fluid, try to clear that up, what was wrong.

OK we know master is an issue start by replacing that and ALL the rubber flex lines those at the wheels ... your description sounds like a flex line problem, the locking up and the air getting in system.

Also do a scan - you want to check for ABS issues - that will require a special scanner. yes even if ABS light is off.
