96 buick rear brakes

I'm having a real problem with the rear shoe brakes horse shoe brake clip, mine broke and how do you get the new one on? I have the shoes off that didnt help, is their a trick tool? This is on my 96 Buick le saber

I believe it just snaps in at the bottom.
