Brake lights staying on Sign In

Yesterday I removed the wheels on my car to give the insides a thorough cleaning, and while I had the wheels off I touched up the paint on the collar of the rotors (the part that flares to the wheel). I placed painter's tape over the calipers while I was working, but some may have gotten on there.

This morning when I cranked the car and then released the brakes they "popped", likely due to a little overspray of paint on the rotors. I didn't think a thing of it, took things slow for a few minutes to make sure any overspray was removed from the rotors. However, after driving for 20 minutes or so I noticed a reflection of brake lights in my rear view mirror and realized they were mine--and I wasn't braking. I pulled over, and sure enough, my brake lights and third brake light were staying on even when the brake isn't depressed.

Due to the work I was doing yesterday I assume it is likely something I may have done. I washed the calipers prior to touching up the paint, so perhaps I dislodged something? Could overspray have caused an issue? Although I'm a big do-it-yourselfer and have changed rotors and pads, I don't have much familiarity with the braking system electrical side. Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated!!!

BTW, car is a 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera

Inspect the brake lamp stop switch. See if the switch is depressed when the brake pedal is all the way up. The stop lamp switch is under the dash where the brake pedal is.
