I have a 99 Chevy Malibu, 2.4 engine. I have had the car for about 10 years, and the ABS never worked properly. The brakes were never 100 percent, but they worked OK, so I let it be. Now I replaced the pads and rotors, and I want to do it right this time, but I don't want to bother with the ABS because I have no idea what is wrong with it, and I can't fix it. So I bypassed the ABS all together and hooked up the brakes directly to the master cylinder. After bleeding them I found the brakes don't work. The brake padel bottoms out, the rear wheels lock up, but the front brakes don't work at all. Does anyone know how to fix this? I suspect I need a different master cylinder, one that is not for ABS. Thanks in advance.

Of course they don't work. You CANNOT bypass ABS. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Proportioning valve goes between the master and abs modulator which you deleted. Don't quite understand why you would bypass the modulator on something like that. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
