Car pulls to the right when I push the brake Sign In

Hyundai Elantra 2009, 2.0L, 142,000 miles.

Car pulls to the right when applying the brakes. The car has new struts, ball joint, links, outer tire rod, calipers, brake hoses, bleed, brake pads, rotors on both sides. All wheels have 32 PSI and already tried rotating the tires.

I took it for an alignment and didn't worked. So I took it to another shop so they can check the alignment and everyting was OK. They also checked all the parts I installed and everything was OK. Still don't know why it pulls to the right when I apply the brakes.

I read somewhere that a bad bearing can cause pulling to one side, but it doesn't specify if it pulls all the time or when applying the brakes.

Still... there's no noises or humming when turning the wheel. I jack up the car and the tires has no play or weird sounds when turning them by hand. I don't know what else could it be...

here's a video of the problem: https://youtu.be/0jT0OLOkcds

I made that link to video clickable for other's ideas too easier to do > https://www.youtube.com/...amp;feature=youtu.be <
IDK, 8 seconds once isn't enough but appears you are off the even pavement on the right side? If so it would be normal perhaps then it wouldn't do that again later if road was in fact no issue.\

Pulling with brake use? That side has more grip for a possible list of reasons. It could be colder due to other side being way too hot you've replaced common parts that could do that. So I ask did it do this before and after those parts?

Bearings? It would have to have a LOT of free-play but current day hubs and bearings don't ever tolerate "play" or just before wheel falls off.

Hoist it yourself and check others said they found nothing.

Tires, brake items and only some alignment problems could do this. Control arm bushings where is mounts if very bad would but you said you had this checked??

IDK? For now at least be sure lug nuts are tight I can't out guess those who had this in person??

Re: Car pulls to the right when I push the brake Sign In

Sorry for two posts maybe in a row if another hasn't posted on this:
Try this. A vehicle will pull towards the front wheel with "negative caster" if I recall FE alignments and what can or could be done with harmless pulling due to normally crested roads in certain places is the norm.

The control arm bushings are not supposed to move more than flex with bumps up and down. Not pull away due to any other reason including worn out if so.

How to check? I'm thinking...…………. Try this: With a helper driving just fight brakes no real movement needed watch wheel/tire while pointed straight ahead if fighting brakes makes either move closer to the rear or front with forward and reverse "brake against some power" is applied.

It shouldn't.

Sorry, was trying for some DIY way to make the problem happen in front of you.
Other is wheel off pry on those but while hoisted by that lower control arm don't want hoisting by body for this check - spring may have pressure you can't move anything against so easily.

It 's not right we both know that I frequently question new parts and not throwing good stuff out just for a maybe. Diagnose longer and better the parts tossing isn't a good answer to anything without reason first,

Re: Car pulls to the right when I push the brake Sign In

Somebody is missing something here.

There are basically 2 reasons a car will pull under braking

1) For some reason there is more braking applied to that wheel than the opposite side. Don't ignore that it could be a rear wheel causing it also.

1) Something is loose in the steering or suspension causing the wheel to change trajectory when the brake is applied.

Re: Car pulls to the right when I push the brake Sign In

I'll add another mystery maybe since this doesn't make sense. Could pads on one side be wrecked with oil or somehow have a leak of a fluid even water on them?

Steering pulls to one with more friction. HOT has less for stuck brakes parts now new. New maybe the problem but rare if it did same before,

Re: Car pulls to the right when I push the brake Sign In

Hi guys. Just a quick update. I manage to solve the problem. I Jack up the car and took the front left tire out. I started messing around to see if there was something off and yep… the mechanic forgot to torque one of the control arm bushing screws. It was loose, so when I applied the brakes, the whole thing will smash to the front.

I torqued the screw according to specifications (80 ft. Pounds) and the problem is gone.

Re: Car pulls to the right when I push the brake Sign In

OMG! Thanks for the update on this.

FYI folks, top post, 2nd paragraph quote this

">I took it for an alignment and didn't worked. So I took it to another shop so they can check the alignment and everything was OK.<"

This is a shame was looked at twice by shops people who should have caught this IMO while it was in person with supposedly professionals!

There's the problem.

OP, this just being tight still isn't finished the alignment isn't known those type things alter it or adjust it so it may be safe again but not done.

Try to find a place and person who will get this back to correct at the risk of severe tire wear and poor control of this car for steering and braking to be at their best.

Thanks again for posting what YOU found caused or missed twice now a shame.

Almost done then let's close this out for archives.

Good work finding it yourself!

Tom
