have a 2013 subaru forester . One year ago I had one brake pad wear out on the rear,my mechanic replaced the whole rear 550 dollars. that was one year ago .yesterday i herd the rear brakes draging .i put a heat sensor on it it read 300 degrees.my 550 dollar brake job lasted one year maybe 10k miles.I wonder if my mechanic is putting junk parts in it .looking for parts that are quality and will go the distance.the front pads have never been replaced with 45k miles.I need a plan

William, now that you've discovered the cap lock key try putting your questions in the content area not all in the subject line.

What is the trouble you are having finding what you want? Quality is out there for longer life, less dust and noise, just lowest price and so on. OE for most everything is the choice for most,

? You said ONE brake pad wore out at 10,000 miles? Suggests caliper even this new isn't right for unknown reason more than likely quality of pads if just one.
Call it a 3 year old vehicle and new enough should IMO go a round without new calipers which could be the issue, installation improper lubing of area that should be. Too fast IMO for quality which leaves defect or a reason.
If this car or rear wheels were dunked in water enough to soak brakes stuff happens to brakes new or not.

Even a year later this showing ONE pad worn out or different without other explanation I'd go back and ask why.
Yes parts are sold frequently cheaper, mid grade, best but what does that mean? As said for linings they should all meet OE specs just some claims of more life, less dust and noise as mentioned. It's the wearing unevenly that is the issue. If caused by literally standing water over the brake parts especially if warm from use it can happen not just driving in rain or puddles which they can handle.
BTW - parking brake is inside the rotor of this so it shows if bad shouldn't effect service brake linings but can add to issues not by this description but be aware of it.
Other: By vehicle design some vehicles rear brakes wear out normally before fronts but evenly not just one lining.
Temp reading counts if comparing it to other side and if wheel reached a true 300F it's way too hot,

QUALITY BRAKE COMPONETS -see your SUBARU dealer.
eliminate possible contributors to early wear- 2 sets rear in 45k?
multi drivers, environment (deep water etc), ABS or other warning light, parking brake use, driving with 2 feet, modifications, towing, poor installation practices of previous set, as mentioned calipers failing.
