Dragging noise after replacing brake rotors Sign In

1997 Hyundai Tiburon Base Model (1.8) -- 105000 Miles

Replaced brake rotors as a fun project in this car. Had assistance and help throughout.

Once the rotors and brake pads were replaced there seemed to be a dragging noise. (Similar on both sides) I have cleaned parts and replaced the brake hardware in hopes this noise would disappear. I am somewhat new at understanding how all these parts and pieces work.

Do new rotors and pads have to be worn in?
How would I know if the rotor is warped?
Is there supposed to be visual clearance between rotor and pads while the brakes aren't activated?

The noise only occurs when brake pads are in place. Any ideas or obvious things I'm missing? Thanks!

Seriously............ if you have to ask questions like that you really shouldn't be repairing brakes.

Check to see if the backing plate is making contact with the rotor.

First thing I checked. Just wanted to see if there was anything obvious I was forgetting. Seems I’m doing okay so far. If you have anything helpful I’d love to hear it.

Well, if it wasn't the backing plates then something was installed incorrectly so I guess you aren't doing OK.
I reread your question. Did you replace the rotors and not the pads. That would explain a lot.
