Just did rear brakes on my 2002 GMC Yukon XL 1500 SLT, has dual piston calipers. long story short caliper pistons were very hard to compress and afterwards ended up putting new calipers in. Drove the truck for a day or two while waiting for calipers to come and the new pads I had installed before changing the calipers look like the got a little heat damage showing surface cracks that are about 1/16 deep. Should they be replaced or will they still be okay to use. They are Carquest Premium professional ceramic pads. Truck is not a daily driver more of a weekend run around vehicle.

No, you've damaged the pads now and they need to be replaced.

Replaced the pads and upon closer inspection the damaged pads seemed to be very brittle and probably wouldn't have lasted too long.

Good decision.

Closing this now as solved
