Seeking Advice: Strange Noise in 2017 Nissan Versa Note, Mechanic Stumped Sign In

Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago, my mom's car started making a buzzing noise. It's hard to describe, but it sounds a bit like wind noise. It doesn't happen all the time, and it stops when she starts braking. We've taken it to the mechanic, but they haven't been able to pinpoint the issue. They initially thought it might be the brake pads or low tire pressure. They cleaned the brakes and added air to the tires, but that didn’t help, and the noise seems to have gotten louder.

My dad is planning to take the car back in, and we really appreciate everything the mechanics have done so far. I'm just hoping for some outside-the-box suggestions on what it could be, as I want to ensure my mom is safe while driving.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's nearly impossible to diagnose a noise over the Internet.

If it immediately stops when touching the brakes, then that is where to concentrate. It could be something like a brake pad wear sensor touching the rotor.

If you ignore the brake factor you look at things like plastic flaps vibrating in the wind when the car is moving.

I wish I could explain it better, but thank you, man. It definitely does stop when she touches the brakes, so I'll keep the focus there.

Look very close at EVERY brake pad. When those sensors just start to touch the rotor they make some weird noises.
