Sudden loss of brakes

2003 Pontiac Vibe, 1.8L, 180,000 miles, no ABS, manual transmission I work out of town so I haven't looked at the car myself so here is what I know. Son complains the brake pedal went to the floor and he couldn't stop this morning on the way to school. Wife goes to pick him up and investigate. She tries the brakes has a solid pedal. Keeps pumping the brakes look everywhere they can but see no leaks. The master cylinder is full and they don't notice any leaks there. Wife drives the car home (11 miles, 20 min trip), no brake issues. My questions is Master cylinder going bad???? Any other suggestions Thanks

More than likely it appears the master cylinder is the problem because there is no loss of fluid and the pedal came back. Be very careful driving that. Infact, you really shouldn't drive it because you will never know when the next time it will go out again. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
