Hi yall , The neighbor lady left me her 2007 Chevy Equinox v6 4 wheel disc brake car. she said shes been driving it better that a month now with a brake pedal doing down to the floor. I jack it up, pull all the wheels and find the right front brake hose has blown apart at the crimp where it connects to the caliper. I clamped off the broke hose, filled the empty master cylinder and had help bleeding the brakes just to get an idea what was happening in the system. I got good fluid flow from both rear bleeders. Left front i got just a dribble and of course i would unclamp the Rf and nothing. Today installed a new Rf brake hose and started to immediately bleed the Rf caliper with a air operated bleeder just to see if i could get fluid moving through the system. With a bit of brake pedal pumping and vacuum bleeding i was able to get a decent flow to the caliper.
So now here is the problem, using the vacuum bleeder i get just a dribble of fluid flow, the Lr i get LOTS of flow both fluid and LOTS of air bubbles, again the Rf i get a little bit of flow and ending with the Lf i get just a dribble. I cannot find on google a trustworthy site to let me know what is the correct bleeding sequence for this vehicle. I dont know if its a split diagonal system or just bleed on standard RR,LR,RF,LF. From the research i have done i also looks like i need a scanner device to bleed the ABS system because the master cyl was run dry. After an hour of continued vacuum bleeding the brake pedal still goes to the floor. Whats yall's thoughts. Thanks

This vehicle requires electronic bleeding done with a bidirectional, professional scan tool.

This has been driven for a month with essentially no brakes?
Nice of you to try to help but suggest leaving this alone. It's been pumped dry of fluid with a wide open break in hose there will be lots more to do now.
Glad it somehow didn't have some horror show of an accident or none reported?

Walk away from this one,

T

Thanks for the advice and telling me to walk away. I will also need to install a new Rf hub bearing assy. All five wheel studs were stripped when I removed the wheel and I cannot find the correct studs to change them out. Even the studs from Chevrolet are smaller than what came out of this hub. Went to the junk yard, same thing, studs are different from what are installed. I need the wheel installed to get it to another shop to bleed the brakes then. This same vehicle has a lack of heat issue as well. Can I post it here or start a new thread ? Thanks again

IDK, post it here site is slow. Your kindness to help is Pandora's box not mechanical anymore IMO. A dry master cylinder alone means it wasted a ton a parts with probably ripped up rubber debris forget codes, devices to bleed brakes it was ignored was dangerous.

Hub and studs all not right? IDK what hackery might have even maybe worked before you? That's not so common but who knows if wrong studs fit in a hub that will still fit on the car from new by mistakes being made all the time or mis-boxed??

That's why I suggested if it could be ignored for a zero brake problem this will never end owner needs to make a call to keep it at all or a shop that may need a month to tend to it if they do give it a real try??

Start a new thread for a different problem, much less confusing.

As for your lug problem, it is likely just a difference in brake systems like HD brakes or 4WD.

You will need to get the 3 digit RPO code from the glove box. Brake codes start with "J"
