Recently my '02 Nissan Sentra has been making a high-pitched whining noise somewhere in the front end. It's intermittent - seems to happen only for a while after starting up on a damp or rainy morning. There is no noise during ignition, but the noise starts right away after the car is started and continues while idling at lower speeds (<30mph). It goes away when I give it gas, while driving at higher speeds (35+) or after driving for a while. My commute is about 25 miles, and the noise has always stopped by halfway to work. I maintain the car regularly, it had its last oil change about 4,000 miles ago and is at about 57,000 miles. It had new belts installed at 45,000. There are no lights on on the dashboard display. I let it warm up before driving but it makes this sound even while just idling in my driveway. Any advice is really appreciated!!!

Even though recent belt(s) it could still be that. With some silicone spray, spray the belts and if it immediately goes away you only have shiny pulleys and then silicone grease will keep it away if applied now and then. If noise doesn't go away a bearing is suspect. You can hear them with a listening rod which IS WICKED DANGEROUS!!!!! Don't even try if you are not able to keep that away from moving parts. The spray if it works won't work long but if you can't find silicone grease email me at TEFeuilleVerte@Comcast.net . Good luck, T
