Hey guys, I have a 1992 Ford Taurus GL automatic. It is a very nice car for its age except that when I accelerate from a stopped position and let off the gas suddenly, the car makes a clunking noise. I thought it might be the CV joints, but they are not making the clicking noise when turning and they look reasonably clean. The car also makes the noise when I shift really fast. Thanks for your help.

What you may have is a broken motor mount. Open the hood and observe the engine while power braking in drive and reverse. If it jumps severely, then you have a broken mount. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Is it a expensive repair? And I checked the engine, you were right.

That just depends on what needs to be replaced. There are 4 mounts there all together. You need to have them inspected to determine what needs to be changed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
