Year of Vehicle: 1995
Make:Acura
Model:Integra
1.8L L4 PFI DOHC 16V
88k miles

For some reason whenever I start the car a rattle/Chattering noise comes from the engine bay. When I looked under the hood it seems to be around the timing belt area but I could feel the vibration through the air compressor hose. Thing is, the AC works perfectly..and the belts look fine to me. I tried touching the belts (with a glove of course) to see if they would be causing the noise but it doesn't seem like it. One more thing, sometimes when I'm driving I swear a hear what sounds like water slashing around, which could be related to the noise? When I bought the car it did not make any of this noise(nearly a month ago), it just came out of nowhere. Doesn't seem to affect performance and the noise actually goes away when I reach a higher speed but comes back when I slow down under about 30mph. I'd really like to fix this noise, it makes the car sound bad when it really isn't, I just need to know exactly what I need to replace!

This needs to be looked at by a professional ASAP. This could be a water pump or other timing belt driven component failing. If either is true and they let go altogether, you are going to be looking for a new engine.

If up to it take the belt off and spin pulleys by hand for a bad one. Noises are warnings and the descriptions of rattle, chatter and a sloshing sound is a few.

That or better while and if you trust driving it swing by a shop and have a tech listen to it and make the call on what it is. Then decide if you want to take it on or not depending on what is found which remains unknown to me and you so far. BTW - don't touch a moving belt again glove or not if that's what you did!
