Hello, just this morning I went to work just like any other day. However, later on that night I started up my car to find a loud screeching grinding noise coming from my front left tire area. I didn't know what to do so I drove it around to see if it would stop. When I would step on my breaks you could feel the pedal shaking and trying to resist somewhat. Also, whenever I would turn the wheel the noise and the vibrations would become worse. Can anyone tell me what could be causing this??

I think next move is to take off the front left wheel and look at what happened to the brake no doubt long overdue and can break off last bits of pad and go wild. Compare that to front right to decide if both are/were low or just one. Most likely will need the brakes totally redone,

Is it possible that the front left tires brakes aren't releasing?

Subject line says this noise, grind and problem ONLY does this when braking. If that isn't a clue not much is that something is very wrong with the brakes. If that' confusing to check them yourself or have them checked and fixed if you aren't going to anyway it's a no brainer.

This is a 1997 anything about a wearing thing such as brakes could be wrong a second or third time by now?

If you don't assertively ask for a brake inspection on a periodic schedule you can be surprised like this and can anyway but rule out 95% of surprises.

When were they totally done last if you can't look at them? Would you know good from bad if you did?

From what is posted so far I can't recommend driving this thing again at all till found out and fixed! For all I know the wheel is falling of or the tire flat. A vehicle is up to you to have some idea of what should be done and checked/changed periodically and apparently you don't,

How about you don't be an #$%^&%$ about it. I am just trying to learn what is wrong with my vehicle by myself. Thanks for the "input".

I didn't see anything assholish in his response. Basically, we can't tell you what is wrong because that is a visual problem that you will probably see when you pull the left front wheel off and inspect the braking components.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
