We just bought a used 1997 Chevy Venture yesterday from a private party. A few things we noticed: 1) The driver side outside mirror shakes while driving, especially on bumpy roads 2) When we try to gradually turn on a curve it feels like the van is grinding on something 3) It gets kind of loud when we accelerate over 40 mph It passed the emissions test and the owner has all the paperwork for maintainance, though we do know it needs coolant and an oil change. Does anyone know what could be causing these problems and how we can repair them ourselves without having to deal with a pricey mechanic?

handrews; The noise during turns is indicative of a wheel bearing. Without being able to hear it though, just a guess. Could be front or rear. Get the oil, filter, and coolant taken care of. Check all fluid levels, including differential. Loren SW Washington
