1998 Chevrolet Lumina sedan 3.1 Litre, 181000 kilometers I was driving home from work today, at about 65 km/h. There was a sudden front end banging/vibration. I slowed and pulled over, it felt like the front wheel was going to fall off. I shook the wheels, felt good. I started to go again, it sounded worse, I didn't go over 60 km/h, and it doesn't appear to be there under acceleration, but bangs at what I would say is the same frequency as the rpm of the wheels. It is very loud. Could it be a CV joint. The transmission feels fine, and as I say it doesn't feel bad under acceleration. What do you think?

The C/V is not real likely unless it's just not bolted in tight and I doubt that. there are a number of other possibilities like brake anchor bolts falling out, bad hub bearing or other brake issues but it needs to be inspected ASAP. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
