2001 Nissan Xterra XE - 120k miles
I took this vehicle on a cross country road trip from Florida to Washington state-3000+ miles. During the trip, the battery died a couple times and we had to get a jump. We made it safely to Washington after a long trip.
After a couple months of being here, we noticed the car started shaking sometimes. We didn't think anything of it. Then the service engine light came on. Again, we thought it was nothing.
Fast forward to now, the car is leaking oil and a clear fluid. The lights and radio come on inside the car. The car will not start.
At first it would click the entire time I turned the key and I could see the piece inside the engine turning but it would not start still.
And finally, now, it will either click once or not at all and nothing is happening. The lights and radio still work. The car will not take a jump either.
I don't understand.

First thing you need to do is have the battery tested and to make sure the battery connections are clean and tight.

Then you need to determine where those leaks are coming from. You may need to get the vehicle in the air so you can get underneath to do a visual.

You also need to have the engine controller scanned to find out what trouble code numbers are being stored.

Remove the battery from the vehicle and take it to a local auto parts store that has the capability of testing it. Inspect the battery connections and if crusty clean them with baking soda and water mixture. Use a wire brush to clean the terminals with.

Once you get the engine running and fluid levels are good, drive to an Autozone and have them run a scan. Write down the code numbers.

The problem is if you don't have experience working on vehicles or the tools to do it, your going to have to take it to a shop.
