2005 Taurus Grinding and Spring Noise Sign In

2005
Ford
Taurus
~207K miles

I had a few odd noises start happening to me yesterday with no event that I recall that might have triggered these problems.

1. There is a grinding noise coming from what sounds like the rear passenger wheel area. Think of a chunk of metal being dragged on the road and thats what it sounds like. Nothing is hanging from under the car. This only seems to happen when the brakes are being used or have just been used.

2. Higher pitched spring sound coming from front passenger wheel area. It sounds almost like a piece of metal wire at high tension and someone flicks it. This only happens when I hit a bump. Sidenote: This was not happening when it was cold out. It warmed up significantly and thats when I noticed it. It was cool this morning and I didnt hear anything. On my way home it was warm and I heard it with ease. Not sure the temp has anything to do with it but its worth sharing.

Hey - if subject to the extremes out there and the pothole anything's game. Gotta get under it, pull wheels and look for the source. A bit odd you notice both front and rear with different sounds but so be it and have to find out why.

Check brake pads that may be way too low or a pad fallen off a backing plate makes quite the noise, along with shields for back of brakes or anything for that matter.

Maybe, maybe a sway bar pin broke and hits something - check all,

T
