I bought a used 2006 Camry 4 cylinder a few months ago with 136000 miles. I got the oil changed it was driving good. The only issue I had from it was white smoke coming out of the tailpipe when I started it in the morning. It was not due to it being cold outside. The check engine light was never on there was never any noises everything seems to be running great. I took a six hour trip to and from. The next day, I drove to work 30 minutes away and on my way home from work my check engine light came on and within minutes there was ticking when I try to accelerate it quickly got louder and louder I merged off of the freeway and as soon as I got off the car seized up and I was able to Coast into a parking lot. When the car first started ticking I look down and the temperature was all the way below c as if it's stopped working. It look like something had exploded under the hood. It looked white. There wasn't much smoke. The oil was just changed a month previous and was still at good levels. I'm just wondering if I blew my engine or maybe a small glimpse of hope it isn't as bad as I was thinking. It now just does a winding noise when trying to start. I'm planning on having it looked at when I can afford it. Thanks in advance for any idea on what it could be.
