I just purchased this vehicle, today I noticed a squeek/squeel kind of noise when I was driving between 70 and 74 mph. prior to realizing the 70 to 74 coincidence I lisitened to everything I could think of, I even unscrewed the antenna thinking it could be wind noise, but it would start back when driving those speeds. has anyone ever had this problem? does this year van have a cable for the speedometer? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Speedometer cables have gone way of the dinosaurs on the newer vehicles. That one is controlled by an electric motor that is told what to do by a computer inside the instrument cluster. The computer in the cluster gets speed information over a data bus, much like computers talking to each other over a phone line.

Noises are hard to diagnose from over the computer. You might want to have someone ride with you that can aid in pinpointing the location of the noise. If you think that the squeaking noise is coming from inside the cluster itself, you may have to disable the cluster by unplugging it or pulling fuses that power it to see if the noise goes away. If you determine the noise is inside the cluster, you'll have to send it out for repair.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
