2011 civic door ping Sign In

2011
Honda Civic LX
170,000 miles
I hear a ping noise in the front car doors sometimes. Definitely on drivers side but it might be both. Its such a dainty sound. Sounds really tiny like a small metal pin was being bent back and then let go and made a little ping noise. This sound only happens sometimes but its always upon just starting car and just starting to move. Havent noticed it other times than that.

Another occurance which may be related or not is the physical key has stopped working to open the door for the valet key. The fob will open door still only. My guess is problem wih lock cylinder.

Another relevant fact is that diy tinting was done at one time on all windows but has since been removed from the front windows. This diy tint i believe is the culprit of passenger side window getting stuck at a certain position sometimes although its working better now I think. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds like you have more than one problem going on. We can't begin to tell you what the issue can be until someone takes this apart and inspects things.

With 170K, things get worn out. Door stops wear out, sometimes window linkages gets worn loose. These things have to be found through inspection.

That "ping" for vehicles is triggered by it knowing key is in ignition lock cylinder AND the "ping" can be set off for assorted reasons. Door(s) that are open or not fully closes, lights still on, seat belts, tire pressure maybe? I'm not sure it needs the key in it or just something left on this or any other vehicle are not all the same to trigger that.
A maybe you'll find that info in an owner's manual but doubt it. Lots of versions of Civics.

At the miles I'd be looking for where the noise maker is and just see if I could unplug it without some other issue plead IDK it might not like having that messed with??

I guess we need to know if this is an "electronic" ping or a "mechanical" pill. I was going on the idea it was mechanical.
