2012 Dodge Grand Caravan strange noise at full stop Sign In

hey guys and gals,

My name is tyler and I'm hoping you could help me diagnose an issue with my wife's 2012 dodge Grand caravan. So after she told me something was making noise I drove it and noticed that when I come to a complete stop, SOMETIMES (not everytime) the car will make a weird sloshing/metal grinding sound. I checked the brakes and everything seems ok there and they were just replaced 2 months ago (pads, rotors, and fluid). Brake fluid level is fine. When I checked everything out under the car I noticed some grease on the CV axle (driver side) where the noise was coming from. I'm wondering if that is the problem. I've never heard this noise come from a car before. I'm also not familiar with this vehicle because I work mostly on Mini Coopers. All help is greatly appreciated! Hope I get this solved!

Thanks, Tyler

? At a complete stop brake parts and driveline (CV joints etc) are not moving and can't make noise close to a "grinding" of the suggested noises.

IDK - What (too new to be sure) type of power assisted brakes are these, vacuum boosted, hydraulic or something else? If vacuum could make some sound not grinding. Hydraulic look for where it get power from.

ABS anything should know vehicle wheels are stopped so unlikely. If you feel better and noise is real and new go get a good code reading and post the #s.

Just because make sure belt is properly tensioned and in good shape.

If this is real have a helper push brake pedal (P or N please) and listen under the hood while it does this and locate what item is causing the noise.

Intermittent anything can be real tough if it will not misbehave in front of you,

T
