96 S-10 noisy serpinitnes....help!

in my 96 S-10 blazer 4.3 ltr I replaced the water pump and when i put on belt back on it squealed like a stuck pig and It was literally deafening. So I cleaned off the pulleys with break cleaner and wiped them off as best as i could to get off any anti-freeze that got on them and then bought a new Dayco serpentine belt and replaced the Tensioner. I thought i solved the problem and then about 15 miles later I have a chirp. I don't hear it when the engine is cold but when it warms up the chirp gets louder. The Idler and the alternator was replaced last year and I don't see any wobbling pulleys or abnormal alignment.
The new belt has the Dayco logo and the bar code printed right on the belt. Could that be where the belt is slipping and causing the chirp????
anything else???? If there were bearings going out would there more of a grinding noise instead of a chirp????

Is idler/adjusting pulley at the max on indicator? If you can spin the alternator fins by hand it's not tight enough. With belt off do any new or used pulley "feel" anything?
Not Dayco but have had hopelessly noisy belt(s) from some knock off brands.
Easy with brake cleaners on rubber parts. Can ruin them fast if directly used on them,

not sure on the indicator the alternator fins are inside the alternator so i cant spin them. Im assuming everything is tight cause the belt is new as well as the tensioner. The only thing that feels abnormal with the belt off is the AC compressor seem to spin roughly and have a more of a grinding noise to it. Would that still cause a loud chirp????
I made sure that no break cleaner came in contact with the belt

I think you've found it. The compressor's clutch is nothing but an idler pulley when compressor is NOT engaged as seen with outer hub not moving.
First see if you can freely run like a standard biz card without it getting stuck in the clutch air gap that could be rubbing or not releasing fully. If a problem with bearing alone it can be replaced and without seeing it off don't know how it's held in. Could be snap ring pressed or what's called peened into place. Hey, 96 to now I can't guess what compressor is in there so that ends that.
If just the bearing and not sure or tools for it alone if found bad it may be best to send out for the replacement,

my compressor wont engage so i must have a leak in the system. I seems the noise is coming right from the idler pulley. That was replaced last year and the bearing is tight. I wonder if its still could be bad???

The A/C compressor NOT engaging for whatever reason is near certainly nothing to do with this noise as it's just now holding the clutch pulley on it and could forever without issue.
The idler pulley even if new making noise isn't surprising. It may not wobble or have any free-play and still be bad. It should just spin (belt off of it) free and silent, even coast by hand. If any noise then a trained hand can feel them that they are not right and don't heal, no service except a new one.
Huge failure rate of the cheap line of Chinese bearings and hard to know sometimes unless clearly marked. Bearing race which you can't see should say but the box it came in if honest should have. Not to bash Chinese made stuff but they are willing as a country to cut corners and bearings is high on the list.
Can happen to one made anywhere too.

A/C - If you wish to deal with that bring that up as a separate issue. Really helps if the common issue is a leak and low charge for temperatures to be higher than say 70F or so. If real cold it may cycle on then just stay off to protect itself.
Find the noise first,

well i broke down and took it to a shop and they determined it was a faulty belt. Even Dayco's best sometimes you get a blem. I put another belt on there and so far its silent. I'll find out when i get 20 miles on it or so and see if it squeaks then cause thats what the old one did.

That's probably because you got coolant on the belt. That will do it every time.

What was wrong with the old belt, did it have pills in the grooves, glazed, missing ribs, etc.?
You should replace the belt tensioner. Belt tensioners due wear out and cause the belt to slip and glaze.

well its back....again! I put a new Dayco belt on since the shop said that the other new one i put on was bad. Same senerio was quiet for the 1st 30 miles or so and now the chirp is back again!!! as i revue the engine the chirp gets louder not sure where to look. May have to run it back to the shop and have them look into it deeper.
My guess is that its got to be an alignment issue. Visually i cant see anything wrong. I wonder if its the alternator pulley?? that was new a year ago. I thought i saw a slight wobble on it it when i spun it with the belt off even though it spun freely and didn't make noise like bearing were going bad. I wonder if i could replace just the pulley that's on the alternator???
Maybe the idler pulley is slightly smaller than it should be since its O'Reillys knock off brand?? would an OEM idler would take care of it??
could it bee the hub that bolts on the water pump??? fan clutch?? The noise seems to come from the alternator or the Idler. I just hate to buy parts and that not be the problem.
not sure what else

It may not be a belt at all. Get a spray bottle with some straight water in it and spray a little in the belt while it's running and see if it immediately changes/stops the noise.

If the water trick reveals belt noise, they make a laser alignment tool that can check to see if the ribbed pulleys are in alignment. Power steering pump pulleys out of line is a common problem. Check to see if your shop has one.

took it back to a different shop, same thing they sprayed a little liquid on the belt and it immidiatly went away for a short bit. He said its the belt again and the alignment was ok. They told me to stay away from dayco belts and use Gates. They claimed to have nothing but problems with dayco. So i took back the new Dayco and bought a Gates Put that on there and as of about 40 miles later i have no chirp yet. So far the Gates is working!!!
Not sure why the Dayco didnt work out on my Blazer. I still think that the logo and bar code is heavely printed on the Dayco belts and maybe in combination with that and the belt configuration and brand of idler thats what caused it to chirp. Another guy who i know that works on car claimed that too. I dunno

They have to be missing something. How did your mechanic check to be sure everything was in line? I'm pretty sure it is going to start chirping again. Gates and Dayco make good belts, but any brand belt is going to make noises if the belt isn't riding correctly or if a pulley is worn out.

Visually by eye isn't going to do it, unless he has laser beam eyes and everyone calls him the Terminator. 5mm or more off on one ribbed pulley and your going to have problems.

well Ive driven around 400 miles with the new Gates belt and it hasnt chirped at all. Both Dayco belts were chirping withing the 1st 30 miles. So so far the the Gates is holding up. Some reason maybe daycos dont like my blazer.

Thanks for the report and I'd call that done. Personally haven't had a problem with Dayco but not sure who make "store" brand belts either.
You'd think it wasn't rocket science to make belts but it is sometimes
