I may be giving too much information but my main concern is that today, for the first time ever I noticed that my 98 toyota corolla's engine sounds louder than normal when I'm idling. When I am accelerating I don't hear the noise but when I stop it gets real loud and when I put the car in park and lift the hood to look at it I could hear the noise. It is like a rattling. Some background on the car, it was raining today, I had a little trouble accelerating out of a deep puddle when the light turned green today, I had my compressor replaced about a year ago because the air wasn't blowing cold and then about a month later the blower must have gone because now the air blow cold but not very hard. I don't know what could be causing this rough idle noise. Oh, and one more thing, when I back out of my parking spot in the morning I have been seeing a small puddle lately, I can't be positive that it's coming from my car, but I might be leaking something.

Find out what that puddle is - coolant, water, oil etc. Check all your fluid levels now and suspect the one found low if at all. Noise can be from exhaust parts and heat shields. When cold - just grab the exhaust pipe and see if it moves about too much or tap on it with a rubber hammer and loose parts may just show up making noise when tapped on or near. Of course watch what you are tapping on, T
