Car Sounds like a bouncing ball when I go over bumps Sign In

Hi,

My cars passenger side front sounds like a bouncing ball when i hit a bump or a little ditch. If i go over the little speed bumps the left side is quiet so I know it has to do with the wheel and sterring.

The weird thing is when the car is lifted up and I try to shake the wheel, its pretty firm and doesn't move. But when I drive over a bump it sounds very loose. Do you think its a mount or maybe a bad spring or shock?

Any help would be great.

More likely a shock or strut. I would check the whole front end for safety sake anyway.

Certainly rule out a loose wheel!!

You can bounce the car from its bumper and see if one side bounces longer than the other and that would be a giveaway for a shock or the shock part of a strut.

Sometimes a broken stabilizer pin can cause funny noises too - give it all a look.

Hey Tom,

also noticed that the car's steering wheel was vibrating a bit while on the highway (not very safe) but i'm going today to get everything checked out I'll let you know what we find.

Hi friend,

We can get too wound up in computer fixing of car needs and sometimes the best thing is to let a problem get looked at and or fixed by a trusted pro in the biz. Good luck and stay safe,

PS: Any Reader! Take note - being informed is great but when a safety item is involved, run don't walk to take care of it.

Turns out the car had bad stabilizer bars in the front steering and suspension.

Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.
